Scholarship Overview
Purpose and Passion
The Laurette Shaw Scholarship for fashion and design students embodies a commitment to academic excellence and fashion and/or design. It supports students who excel in both fields, encouraging them to pursue their educational and entrepreneurial goals.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. college or university and actively participate in a varsity-level athletic program. The scholarship is awarded based on an essay detailing the student’s experiences and aspirations.
Financial Support
This scholarship offers $1,000 to help cover educational expenses, including tuition and textbooks, for high school seniors and college freshmen involved in varsity sports.
Eligibility Criteria

Must be a graduating high school senior planning to attend a college or university in the United States

Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Must have demonstrated involvement (or a significant passion) in design, fashion, or a related creative field during their high school career

Must have demonstrated leadership skills both in and outside of their creative pursuits

Must submit a 750–1250 word essay on the importance of creativity and collaboration in achieving success, and how their passion for design or fashion has prepared them for future challenges

Must provide two letters of recommendation, one from a teacher or mentor and one from a teacher or other non-family member

Must complete the scholarship application and provide all required documents by the deadline
All applicants for the Laurette Shaw Scholarship will be evaluated based on their eligibility and the quality of their essay response. The winner of the scholarship will be selected based on the strength of their essay response, as well as their demonstration of financial need and their dedication to academic and creative excellence.
